Carmel Chapel

Carmel Independent Chapel is in Carmeltown, Beaufort, Ebbw Vale, Wales. Map

It was built in 1821, rebuilt in 1829 and rebuilt again in 1865 to a design by architect the Rev. Thomas Thomas of Landore.
It is now a Grade II listed building.
 
John Maliphant [##43022] was my great great great grandfather and was a deacon of the church for many years.
 
Amongst its Nonconformist chapels, the Welsh Independent Congregational Chapel ‘Carmel’ was pre-eminent, rising to national fame under the leadership of Thomas Rees DD (author of History of Protestant Nonconformity in Wales, whose second edition was printed in 1883) [extracted from Wikipedia].
